Then they stand and claim the South started it when it reality the North porvided the behind the scenes provocation.

The Soviets were beaten and basically completely disrespected after WWII and were highly suspicious/angry about US involvement in the SE Asia area and wanted to send a very strong message. We are here the Americans are not.

It did not succeed in Korea so they tried again in Vietnam.Mike N.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31117373.post-52959403527119771282011-08-17T08:59:19.913-05:002011-08-17T08:59:19.913-05:00I'm not so sure that I agree with this; the fo...I'm not so sure that I agree with this; the folk in the north are still combative although the Soviet Union collapsed more than 20 years ago.

I've heard from several sources that the initial AP dispatch about the outbreak of war in July 1950 said that the south had invaded the north, not the other way around. Having observed the ROK government at that time in action, I find it quite believable. It's easy to visualize them forcing an incident to stop the US advi8sory group from leaving -- and having it get totally out of hand.

However I've not been able to locate any verification of such a report, so it might well be just another conspiracy theory...Jim Kylenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31117373.post-84771244609344273082011-08-17T08:27:14.168-05:002011-08-17T08:27:14.168-05:00Mike, from the little I've read, that seems to...Mike, from the little I've read, that seems to be the consensus.Doug Dawghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14287287108412180656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31117373.post-8643284124456339462011-08-17T07:57:01.328-05:002011-08-17T07:57:01.328-05:00Having had realtives who fought in the Korean Conf...Having had realtives who fought in the Korean Conflict, they and I firmly beleive the Soviets forced NK to start this becasue the Soviets wanted to send a messae to everybody in the area.
